Norwalk 2004 Car highlights.....
Mike's GTO is sporting a 462 Pontiac motor with a compression ratio of 13 to 1 making over 700 horsepower. Mike is currently running a set of Edelbrock heads that flow approximately 320 cfm on the intake side. The motor uses a Comp Cams solid roller camshaft. On gas (and with no tuning), the car has run a best of 9.91 in the 1/4 mile. Hoping to get into the 9.60 range with alcohol. We are also planning to do a head swap later this year so stay tuned!
January 2005 The car has a fully removable fiberglass front end, glass decklid, glass doors, and lexan windows. Performance Update - May 2005 In late March, we replaced the 1050 dominator with a Ron's Flying Toilet injection system and some alky. We were preparing the car for the 2005 Pontiacs in the Park event and were hoping to qualify for the Quick 16 at the event. We had also filled out an application to participate in an HPP shootout that was to be held at the same track one day before Pontiac in the Park. We were happy to find out that Mike's car was selected. In the shootout the car performed as follows:
The final runs were made with Mike leaving @ 4200 rpm on the 2 step. The car yanks the wheels VERY hard! Mike subsequently qualified for the Quick 16 in the # 10 position with a 9.57 @ 137 mph. With good air and a little bit better 60' we should be able to get the car into the 9.30s. Below is a short video of Mike's '66 launching in the HPP shootout runs. The article should appear in the April 2006 issue. Mike launching at the HPP shootout @ Virginia Motor Sports Park Pontiac Pavement Pounders Shootout in Virginia, Part IIIOWNER BIO: Mike Williams A 10-year veteran of the quarter wars, 39-year-old Mike discovered the cure for a '66 GTO street car that won't hook--turn it into a 2,800-pound, backhalved, 9-second, alky-snorting race car! Mike says his best moment behind the wheel was when, "My first time racing it I won trophy class, blew the motor, and closed the track for the night." Thankfully he did not provide a repeat performance of his triple-crown of Pontiac terror at the shootout.

Mike Williams 1966 GTO in 2007 In 2007 Mike decided to lower the car and have the back half redone and a wheelie bar added to limit the huge wheel stands just a bit. The car sits noticeably lower. We also decided to build a 505 cid engine for the car using a K&M Performance Parts MR-1 block as the foundation. The 505 cid MR-1 Pontiac block used a 4.25" stroke forged crank made 850 HP and 717 ft lbs of torque with standard pushrod location KRE High Port cylinder heads, a SINGLE 1250 Dominator carb and Victor intake manifold on GAS!! After the GAS pulls a Ron's Flying Toilet injection system was added and with some alky and we headed to the track. Initial testing of the engine was done at the 2007 Pontiacs in the Park event held @ Virginia Motor Sports Park. The car ran low 9's all weekend and ran a best of 9.17 @ 144.45 mph! Mike qualified #8 in the Quick 16 at the event as well KRE High Ports ROCK!!! Big Inch Bracket Bruiser Check us out in the May 2008 issue of High Performance Pontiac teaming up with KRE to build Mike Williams' 851 horsepower 505 MR-1 / KRE High Port combo
