The KRE Aluminum D port Pontiac cylinder head has been on the market since 2004. This is the first D port head on the market to incorporate the latest developments in cylinder head technology into it. They feature the standard Pontiac exhaust arrangement; Saving you lots of money not having to buy a set of round port headers. These heads can be used with stock Pontiac exhaust manifolds or with standard d-port headers.
The heads are cast from 356-T6 aircraft aluminum and are nearly half the weight of a stock cast iron head. They come with hardened steel seats, and bronze alloy guides. The deck thickness is 5/8″ and they sport a new high efficiency heart shaped combustion chamber. The spark plug location angle has also been improved upon to create a very efficient chamber burn. Stock port heads have an approximate runner volume of 185 cc while the fully ported 340 cfm version have an approximate runner volume of 225 cc.
These heads feature optimized oil return passages for increased oil flow. Three heart shaped combustion chamber sizes are available : 65cc, 74cc and 85cc. The 65cc combustion chambers are as-cast while the 74cc and 85cc chambers are fully CNC’d. The chamber on these heads is SO EFFICIENT we are able to run compression ratios of 11.5 to 1 AND SILL RUN ON 93 octane PUMP GAS! The spark plugs have been relocated closer to the exhaust valve for improved performance as well. The heads are available in varying CNC port options. Complete heads include guide plates, rocker studs and high quality valvetrain for direct bolt-on application.
The heads are designed to use all of your stock D port head parts! (except your head bolts / head studs – see recommended installation items) Intake and exhaust valve centers are in the stock locations as well. These heads were designed for easy iron head replacement. These heads will bolt to ALL traditional Pontiac blocks and do not require you to run any off-set lifters or rocker shaft systems. They were designed to pick up where the stock D ports leave off; Taking you to that next level of performance!

** Complete heads come with 5000 series Ferrea valves, steel retainers, 10 degree locks, PC seals, hyd cam springs for .600 lift, ARP rocker studs, spring seats and 5 angle valve job
** Please note: You should always check your pushrod length during assembly. DO NOT ASSUME that you have the correct length. Typically, the KRE D port heads with roller rockers use a 9.300 pushrod, but again you MUST check it!
