The CF-71 Freedom Bird 440 article is finally on news stands! In this months issue of Pontiac Enthusiast they feature our Kauffman Headed 440 cid Pontiac engine! Pick up an issue to see how much power we made!!!!!!
rendering by Ben Hermance We are please to announce that we are building the engine for this very unique, one off 1971 Formula Firebird. The engine will be based off a 400 Pontiac block that was supplied by Ty. Other than the stock cast iron 400 block, that will be the only stock Pontiac part that we will use in this buildup! Tin Indian Performance has joined forces with Kauffman Racing Equipment to build a 440 cid power plant that will be as unique as the car itself! KRE is performing all of the machining work on the engine and of course we will be using a set of their impressive 310 cfm 74 cc CNC ported KRE D port heads. Along with a host of other Tin Indian Performance goodies we hope to make over 500 horse power with this combination. There will also be a few new products that get revealed during this build as well so be sure to stay tuned...... These are pictures of Ty's Formula in November 2007
Dyno Testing the CF-71 Freedom Bird 440!
A few words from Ty Ingle .... "(I thought) The car was a pretty nice "restomod" but I wanted to go the pro-touring route... call it my mid life crisis... I'm 42 now and have had this car since high school (1985)... it was my first car and carries a lot of sentimental value and memories as you can imagine. Somehow traveling around all these 23+ years while on active duty in the Air Force I've managed to keep the car and work on it when time and money allowed... but now, with the help of Fletcher's Customs, TIN INDIAN Performance, Kauffman Racing Equipment and all the generous vendors/sponsors it's going to be more than I ever dreamed of! What started out as me just wanting to fix up my old muscle car has turned into SEMA build!!! The car is simply going to be AMAZING! It's on track to be the most advanced, refined 2nd gen ever! One off parts built by the world's leading fabricators, custom paint and body, high level components and the list keeps growing! The outpouring of support for the build has just been INCREDIBLE!! I just can't thank everyone involved enough! I'm anxious to see the car finally make the jump from restomod with a home built #13-headed/406ci combo to a world class pro-touring/g-machine with this INCREDIBLE TIP / KRE 440!!" - Ty Ingle Ty wanted to say a special thanks to Chad Fletcher at Fletcher's Customs! "Chad Fletcher rescued the car from a previous shop for me and agreed to do all the mods for the amount the other shop had quoted originally! Without Chad and Fletcher's Customs this build would not be possible! Thanks Chad!!" - Ty Ingle http://www.fletcherscustoms.com/ "Car was dropped off for a simple scuff and shoot, supposed to take 3 weeks, and when I picked it up it had been 14-weeks or so with very minimal work done. So I agreed to do the car on Ty's budget. It's one of those "pay it forward" things. For over 23 years he's been doing things for me and my fellow Americans, so I had to give back in a way. This is just my way of giving back to the folks that protect my life's freedom!" - Chad Fletcher CF-71 Freedom Bird Sponsor / Vendor Listing The following is a listing of vendors participating in this unique build
